Well That Wasn’t Pretty

First and foremost, Eric Weems needs to get the hell off this Bears team.  I said it before, all he’ll do is fumble or draw a 15 yd penalty for being an idiot. He did one of those last night and it resulted in points for the Jags.

And what a terrible nickname to have – the JAGS.

First offensive series for the Bears was terrible – a drop by Marshall, a nothing run from Forte and a 7 yd completion to Jeffrey.  3 and out.  Not good.  However, the second drive was much better, Cutler had ALL DAY to throw, gotta give props to the o-line for protecting like crazy.  Where the o-line is scaring the bejesus out of me is in run blocking.  We couldn’t run the ball at all yesterday with the first team.  Really need to get that worked out because if we can’t run the ball, we’ll be in trouble.

Defensively, it looked very very similar to last year and that is fairly terrible.  The holes are consistently there for teams to pick apart.  The same routes lead to the same plays.  We didn’t get any pressure on the QB and that needs to change.  Whether it be through more stunts, blitzes, whatever, get some pressure from the front 4.  Need it. Gotta have it.

One last time, CUT ERIC WEEMS.  Not only did he completely crap the bed on Special Teams, he couldn’t even run proper routes.  Cutler had 2 incomplete passes, a drop by Marshall and a ball to nowhere because Weems ran the wrong route.  Get anyone else in there at the #3 WR spot until Wilson returns from injury.  ANYONE.  Sign back Earl Bennett, get Josh Cribbs, anyone is better than Weems.

But hey, I guess we won.  Hooray? Next week vs Seattle should be a great indicator of what the Bears have in place, great Offense vs a great Defense.  Time will tell…GO BEARS!

Talkin Cutty

Hilarious tumblr site with a bunch of pictures of Cutty smokin some cigs.  It makes no sense and all the sense at the same time.

I understand and will probably never understand all the hate that Cutty gets.  People HATE HATE HATE him.  Does he have a bad attitude sometimes on the sidelines, where he sulks?  Yeah, sure does.  Has he had several different offensive coordinators and offensive systems over the last few years, making it hard to get into any kind of rhythm?  Yeah – sure has.  This season, I really expect (and hope) all the Cutler haters have to eat crow.  I like him.  I think he’s a perfect fit for the Bears and everyone else can suck it.

Good Game…But Certainly Not “Special”

Last Friday saw the first preseason game of the year and the Bears came out victorious over the Eagles, 34-28.  There were a lot of positives to take away from this game, and a few negatives too.

Here’s a quick breakdown…or maybe a long breakdown.

-Cutler and the first team offense looked awesome.  They moved the ball well, didn’t turn it over and had a nice balance of pass vs run.  There were a couple of holding penalties in there that took away a couple of nice plays (Forte 15 yd run in the red zone, Jeffery 40 yd reception) but that will get worked out.

-The first team offense succeeded without 3 key players – The Black Unicorn (suspended for beating up a rookie) and the starters from the right side of the O-line (Long and Mills – minor injuries, nothing serious).  That left room for both reserve tight ends that could be fighting for one spot the opportunity to show what they can do, and they didn’t disappoint.  Zach Miller played out of his mind with 2 TDs and Dante Rosario made a couple of nice catches as well.  Miller has the edge at this point, but there are 3 games to go.

-Back up QBs both played well, and as of me writing this, Clausen has moved ahead of Palmer in the depth chart – THANK GOD.  Palmer is terrible.  That being said, I still want Kyle Orton.  I didn’t see too much out of the back up RBs.  Forte can’t do it all, need someone to step up big time here.

-Guess what?  Eric Weems sucked.  He sucked so bad.  I hate him.  Great 73 yd juggling TD catch by Chris Williams.  Dude has speed.  I hope he makes it.

-The first team defense showed me a lot.  They forced turnovers, got 2 picks from Nick Foles, who threw the same amount all of last season.  Jared Allen didn’t play so I’m anxious to see what he can do against Jacksonville this Thursday.

-The back ups on D played well too – despite Shea McClellin being out of position the majority of the night.  The safeties played surprisingly well and I actually hope there is a good rotation back there this year.

-Holy crap.  Terrible.  Special Teams Coach Joey D is probably still crapping the bed in his sleep after that performance.  With a blocked FG attempt, letting up a kickoff return for a TD, a fumbled punt and horrible punts from our punters, the Bears need to improve here GREATLY.  STs has always been a strong suit of our team…can’t let that slip.

Looking for the team to make strides in all aspects this week against Jacksonville, here are 5 things I’ll be watching for.

1. Cutler – 3rd WR connection.  Need to see some production here.  Teams are going to focus on Marshall and Jeffery, need to make sure they can get some production from the slot.

2. More running.  Need to see some improvements from the running backs that aren’t named Forte.  If he goes down at all this year, we be screwed.

3. Special Teams.  Just don’t be as terrible as they were against the Eagles.

4. Jared Allen.  How many snaps will he play?

5. Safeties.  Who is gonna make an impact.

Long blog, whatever, get over it.  Go Bears!

First Post, First Game

Tonight marks the beginning of the Chicago Bears 2014-2015 season, and I for one am extremely optimistic about this season being a great one.

The offense is great.  Maybe even stellar!  How long has it been since you were looking at the Bears for offensive players on your fantasy team?  The combo of Cutler, Marshall, Jeffrey, Forte and Bennett is going to be huge, but the biggest questions I have for the offense are at the #3 receiver position, and the backups for QB, RB and TE.  This is also the first time in Cutler’s Bears career that he is coming back with the same offense, same system.  Expect big things from them!

Defensively, I want to completely forget about last year.  It stunk.  A lot.  They had one too many injuries they just couldn’t recover from and it resulted in an 8-8 season.

Best Bears Fan Ever

This year is different.  The D-Line has been upgraded big time with additions of Jared Allen, Lamar Houston and Willie Young. Having healthy DTs is also a plus.  I like what I’ve seen out of the rookie Kyle Fuller, and to have 2 all-pros in Charles Tillman and Tim Jennings showing him the ropes has got to be a good sign.  The safety positions (yes, both of them) still scare the crap out of me, but IF the front 4 and 7 can apply more pressure, their jobs in the secondary will become easier.

Tonights game against the Eagles should be interesting.  I’m looking for something on Special Teams.  Not having Devin Hester back there returning kicks will be weird, but someone needs to step up and I for one hope that person is NOT Eric Weems.  He is just the worst, no bones about it.  Its either a fumble or a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty against that dude.  The battle for the #2 QB position should be interesting as well…if neither Palmer or Clausen perform, expect the Bears to go out and bring in a Chicago favorite, KYLE ORTON!

I for one would feel a million times better with good ole neck beard back there instead one of these two bums.

Keep it here for game recaps, insights and general nonsense throughout the season.
